Welcome to my blog, Carolina Trekker!
This blog chronicles my hikes around South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee, and other areas. I have been hiking since I was old enough to walk. I grew up in a rural, forested area of Spartanburg County (SC) that was filled with hills, streams, and boulders. I spent most of my younger years exploring the woods. I learned to love, appreciate, and respect nature. Even as a child, I would lead hikes into the woods on our land. Over the years I’ve served as a hiking guide for archaeologists, naturalists, fossil hunters, herb hunters, school groups, and individuals who simply wanted an adventure. One of my greatest joys is introducing others to hiking!
Here is a list of some of the places I’ve hiked:
Great Smoky Mountains National Park (TN/NC)
Yellowstone National Park (Montana/Wyoming)
Rocky Mountains National Park (Colorado)
Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park (Colorado)
Grand Tetons National Park (Wyoming)
Badlands National Park (South Dakota)
Shenandoah National Park (Virginia)
Ozark National Forest (Arkansas)
Ouachita Mountains (Arkansas)
Everglades National Park (Florida)
Okefenokee Swamp (Georgia)
Appalachian Trail (Section Hiker – in progress!)
Pisgah National Forest (My favorite)
Cherokee National Forest (NC)
Daniel Boone National Forest (Kentucky)
Nantahala National Forest (North Carolina)
…And so many more places in between!
I sincerely hope the trail descriptions, directions, and pics benefit you on YOUR hiking journey.
See you on the trail!
